Roshni Nadar Malhotra, daughter of HCLTech founder Shiv Nadar and Chairperson of HCLTech, a global technology company with a market value of roughly $50B.
When she became chairperson in 2020, she made history as the first woman to lead a listed IT company in India.
Roshni studied Communications at Northwestern University, earned her MBA from Kellogg Executive Education, and began her career producing stories for CNN America and Sky News UK.
Joining HCL Corporation in 2008, she rose quickly, expanding its North American presence and strengthening its focus on AI and digital consulting. Under her leadership, HCL surpassed $12B in revenue and deepened ties with Fortune 500 clients.
She is now widely recognized as India’s richest woman, with a net worth estimated at over $40B.
Beyond business, she has built world-class universities and schools offering free education to rural students, and founded The Habitats Trust in 2018 to protect India’s endangered species.
In 2024, she received the Chevalier de la Légion d’Honneur, France’s highest civilian honour, and has appeared on the Forbes World’s 100 Most Powerful Women list for seven consecutive years.
At 44, she stands as one of India’s most influential leaders, guiding a global tech powerhouse while advancing education and conservation.
It’s inspiring to see leaders like Roshni remind us that tech leadership isn’t defined by scale, but by how that scale is used to open doors for others.
